An Overland 4WD vehicle is the perfect choice for a harsh Southern Winter. Access the many skifields close to Christchurch or go further to the Southern fields near Wanaka or Queenstown.

Winter touring is really taking off in NZ over the last few years. It's a great time to see the country without the Summer crowds. We can have some fantastic settled Winter weather as well, and our temperatures are not really that cold compared to North American or European Winters.

Our range of 4WDs are well suited to Winter conditions and the knowledge that you have a real 4WD under you makes the trip far more enjoyable.

A 4WD is the safe choice for Winter driving in the South Island. Many of the higher roads become inpassible to 2WD traffic, even with chains fitted. After a big snow fall, gaining access to the skifields can become quite difficult, so having a real 4WD with chains is often the only way up.

Heliski close to Christchurch Heliski packages are available for Winter in conjunction with Methven Heliski www.methvenheli.co.nz. Just a 2 hour drive from Christchurch Airport, and you're at the heliski base on a working high country sheep station in the heart of the mountains.

The package includes a Toyota Prado with roof storage box (seating for up to 7 adults or 5 adults and 3 kids), accommodation, meals and helicopter transport to loads of top runs. The chopper will pick you up and drop you off right in front of your accommodation.

If the weather is not cooperating, you can take the Prado on the station tracks and go exploring for the day instead.
