At Overland 4WD Rentals, we have no restriction on where you can go. We provide safe, reliable and versatile vehicles to tackle all types of New Zealand terrain. While our vehicles are not new, they are well maintained, tidy and well suited to the type of work they do.

One-way hires by arrangement. As we are based in Christchurch, in the South Island, hires from other centres may incur a transfer fee - see Home page for more details.

Vehicle Types and Prices -

Toyota Landcruiser Prado 

Limited numbers of the 2004 model Prado are available from 1 December 2009.

The Prado is the go-anywhere vehicle of our fleet. With full time 4WD, the 3 litre intercooled turbo diesel engine has plenty of power but is also very efficient on fuel. It features an automatic gearbox with high and low range as well as a central diff lock for more traction off the seal, ABS braking, twin SRS airbags, CD radio with iPod/aux input, air conditioning and all terrain tyres.

Maximum seating for 8. The rear row of seats can be removed to allow extra luggage space. If all seats are being used, a roof storage box or luggage trailer is highly recommended (both available on our "Accessories" page).

The Prado is highly capable off-road while also being very comfortable for on-road touring. It's often described as being 'like a car' to drive on the road, but will 'go where you point it' off-road.

The 95 Series Prado is best suited for off-road and high country trips. Highly recommended by the leading tag-along and self-drive 4WD tour companies, our Prados are supplied with the basic recovery and fire prevention kits free of charge for high country trips.

Toyota Surf This five door model is suitable for on and off-road travel. 3 Litre turbo diesel, automatic with 2WD or 4WD electric locking hubs and centre diff lock/low range selector. It also has air conditioning, ABS braking, SRS airbags, CD/Radio with iPod/aux input and all terrain tyres.

The Surf is a great touring vehicle with a maximum of 5 seats and plenty of storage space for luggage.

Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape Available 1 December 2009. This is a mid-size 4WD that has more luggage space and ground clearance than a RAV but without the off-road capability of a Prado or Surf. These 2001 - 2003 models are perfectly suited to general touring, camping, skiing and fishing with some back road travel. Space for 5 people and gear. 2 litre petrol with all the mod cons including radio/CD with Aux input for iPod/MP3.

Toyota RAV4 5 Door The RAV4 5 door has travel space for a maximum of 5. A great smaller vehicle for when ground clearance is not required. Perfect for the ski field or camping holidays. With a roof storage box or ski racks on top, you can carry plenty of extra gear.

The RAV is full time 4WD, automatic, 2.0 litre petrol with air-conditioning, CD radio with iPod/aux input. ABS braking and most have SRS airbags.

Toyota Caldina Station Wagon Full time 4WD, automatic 5 seater station wagon offers all the convenience of a touring car, while providing good luggage space and the safety of 4WD in adverse weather conditions. Excellent family/small group touring wagon for sightseeing, camping, skiing etc where ground clearance is not needed. Have access to all the optional equipment Overland has to offer without the big 4WD feel. Able to be fitted with roof box/ski racks for all the extra gear.
