Overland Hunting Adventures

Overland 4WD offers a range of hunting adventures throughout the South Island. We can tailor packages to suit your requirements or choose from a range of set hunting packages from 5 to 14 days.

As well as hunting a variety of different game, you will also experience the scenic beauty of New Zealand's high country.

Choose from a range of species including Himalayan tahr, Eurpoean chamois, red deer, fallow deer, elk/wapiti, whitetail deer, wild pigs and wild goats.

Not for the faint hearted. This is truely the adventure of a lifetime. One week of action-packed hunting and living in the wilderness. Access your stunning hunting areas by helicopter on private and conservation land.

This adventure is strictly limited to 3 trips per year in February, March and April. Not only is this an amazing hunting experience, but you will be flying in the most spectacular mountain terrain that New Zealand has to offer. 

2 days of RnR in the resort town of Queenstown at the end of your hunt will see you rejuvenated to either continue "Overland" in a 4WD vehicle or heading for home.

Hunts priced from $NZ 1500/day (1st hunter) + $500/day (2nd hunter) + trophy fees (private land only); 4WD vehicle hire from $150/day for after hunt activities. Please contact us for more information and availability

Set hunting adventures:

• 'Hosted' free range trips onto public land. Hunt like the locals do. The least expensive type of hunting trip available. A high level of fitness and reasonable hunting experience is required due to the rugged nature of terrain encountered.
• Packages include an experienced local hunter as your host, 4WD vehicle for the duration of your hunt, all camping equipment, accommodation and food, rifles if required. Priced from $NZ 400pp/day. Ideally 2 hunters per host, max. 3.

• Guided free range trips onto private and public land. A fully guided trip for those who would like a bit of extra help to tackle New Zealand's back country and a better chance of getting that trophy. A high level of fitness is required. One experienced guide to 2 hunters increases your chances of success. From $NZ 600pp/day + trophy fees if any.

• Guided trips onto private land. The "Trophy Trip". Fully guided with exclusive access to some of the best hunting country in the South Island. Very good chance of securing a trophy animal on privately controlled land. Max. 2 hunters per guide, high standard of accommodation, bonus side hunts for additional species. Helicopter access to some locations. From $800pp/day + trophy fees.
